The event was scheduled to start at around 8:00 AM, but it could start only by 9:15 AM, the delay of over an hour was because of due on the field. Meanwhile the captains of their respective teams were busy organizing their teams and also enjoyed their healthy breakfast at the venue. Eight teams in all participated in this mega event and each one of them tried to beat the other with all their possible resources in the allotted 7 over matches.
The players were boosted for better performances by some VITA members by cash prizes for every FOUR or a SIX being hit or HAT TRICKS being taken.
The sponsor’s began arriving by 11:00 AM, and were welcomed by the VITA board members and by the on duty commentator’s
By lunch the league matches were over and it was time for the semifinals to begin. The semifinals were close fought 8 over games with margins between winning and losing as low as 1 run. With the semifinals out of the way, it was left to the two finalists to provide the entertainment to the cheering spectators and the sponsors.
After tea at 3:50 PM began the finals, and all present at the venue were amazed to see the excellent display of all round efforts of both the teams. As all good things come to an end so did the event, with the winners excited and the losers dejected.
But it was time for the award ceremony to begin. Both the finalists were felicitated with the trophies; the man of the match and the man of the series, best bowler, best batsman and the best fielders were felicitated. The umpires, scorers, the VITA cricket committee was felicitated for their excellent work. At last the sponsor’s were also felicitated for their support.
This brought the curtains down on VITA Cricket 2012 mega event.
